On hold for a while!

Hi bloggers!

Life is too hectic!

Juggling work, family, fitness and friends is great don't get me wrong but I have no time to myself and if I do, I try to finish my book which I've started way back or have  a ( as Aussies would call it) a nana nap ( a granny nap).

So my point in all of this blablabla is that I'm sacrificing my blog for a while. I'll put it on hold and you can find me on Facebook: Sandie Mirfield.

Sorry bloggers but yes I've been hit by Facebook too. It took a while to resist but it is too easy and everyone is on it.

See you later bloggers....

We have decided to combine our family reunion with a proper holiday for everyone. What better place to meet up other than Africa?! So we headed for a week of safari in Kenya to finish it by the beach in Zanzibar, Tanzania! Quite the adventure!

The Kenyans were so welcoming, big genuine smile with a loud 'Jumbo'!
We've hired a safari truck with a company driver to show us around, very well recommended by the way. We got very lucky because Joseph was as enlightening as an encyclopaedia. He knew his flora and fauna like the back of his hand.

The locations were spectacular, between Nakuru lake and the Masai Mara, we saw a variety of animals, actually, every animal in the book basically! We even experienced the wildebeests' river crossing/ migration through the Mara river infested with crocs and hippos.

Our day would start from a 5:00 o'clock wake up call to a rushed breakfast then off on the safari truck to see the animals to come back for lunch, rest a bit, then another 4 hours' drive off-road to experience the wilderness again.

Just when you think you have seen it all, you get a bonus surprise like a leopard up the tree, a baby elephant chasing birds or hyenas outside your hotel room where Masai guards are patrolling in case  wild animals decide to venture closer.

After a week of wilderness, we headed to  Tanzania to relax on the beach in Zanzibar. There, we met with extended family and had a fantastic time. The place  was breath taking. Photos do not even give this paradise justice. We had a fantastic time between snorkelling, drinking cocktails and dipping our fingers in exotic fruits.

I genuinely cannot describe the special moments and our pictures are just a mere snippets of these memories which will stay in our hearts for ever.
Did we have fun?
HELL Yeah we did!!!!

Know your capitals!

At the dinner table, we were discussing facts about the world in general. So we asked Skye (reminding you that Skye is only 5), we asked her what is the capital of Australia?
And she answers:"A"!
Tears of laughter, that's all we had for the next few hours! Just hilarious!
I mean the girl is a way.

Christmas Photos...

Yes, I know, they are very late!
At least they are published which is better than nothing...
Hope you all had a great time and were surrounded with family and friends, warm, full and cosy.
For Christmas, we have spent it with my mum and our friends
who joined us the next day on a 1 week camping trip to Margaret river.
When I say camping, I mean yes the whole package, camping in the bushes, in a camp site, surrounded by kangaroos at dawn and possums at midnight...
We did the beach tours and we have seen them all.
And Margaret river is not the same without going to the tavern for dinner
and visiting the local bead shop...

Having fun in Freo...

Mesmerizing Mermaid Encounter...

Skye: "Mommy...How do the mermaids go back in the ocean?"

Skye's jaw dropping experience...

Mermaids mermaids everywhere,
throwing shells,
pirate treasure money
and splashing passers by.

The Fringe Festival is on. Circus acts,
performances, theater, music, concerts, magic name it, it is there.
So, there is a big tank in the center of town midst all these circus
and show tents, where a couple of mermaids splash passers and throw shells and pirate treasure money.
The kids are loving it.

Without forgetting our street, the big boys are competing for best decorated house. Boys and their toys! It is brilliant, the kids love it! I am not sure how they are sleeping with all the lights on.

School Christmas Concert!

Best Advent Calendar made by Skye's granny, yeah!

Beach Life...

And spring is here and it is much warmer than usual which means we are spending every second of the day on the  beach...
Wish you were here...

Finally, Skye is bodyboarding without any problem! And mommy is in the water this year, not only the toes dipped but the whole body in the water. I am getting used to the cold water.
